Directions

Oldbridge Sealock/ Sealock (see below), Staleen or Athlumney

Assembly point is the Oldbridge Sealock, Oldbridge at 9:30am.

From Dublin via the M1 (Instructions below if traveling by bicycle)

Cross the new Boyne suspension bridge and take the next exit off the M1. Take the N51 for Slane. Travel for approximately 1 mile to a cross roads and take the left turn for the Battle of the Boyne site.

This will bring you across the Obelisk Bridge over the Boyne, the road swings left and you will travel along side the canal for a short distance, cross over the narrow Engineer’s bridge. You have now reached OPW, Oldbridge (Battle of the Boyne site). Continue straight down the road for approximately 1km to the Sea Lock.

From Dundalk or travelling south on the M1

Take the exit for Drogheda/Slane, follow the signs for Slane(N51). Travel for approximately 1 mile and take the left turn for the Battle of the Boyne site.

This will bring you across the Obelisk Bridge over the Boyne, the road swings left and you will travel along side the canal for a short distance, cross over the narrow Engineer’s bridge. You have now reached OPW, Oldbridge (Battle of the Boyne site). Continue straight down the road for approximately 1km to the Sea Lock.

From Slane (N51 from Navan or N2 from Ashbourne or Ardee)

Follow the N51 to Drogheda, past Townley Hall forest car park. You will reach a cross roads with a Battle of the Boyne sign to the right. Take this right turn and it will bring you across the Obelisk Bridge over the Boyne, the road swings left and you will travel along side the canal for a short distance, cross over the narrow Engineer’s bridge. You have now reached OPW, Oldbridge (Battle of the Boyne site). Continue straight down the road for approximately 1km to the Sea Lock.

Travel by bicycle from Dublin

Take a Matthews* coach from Dublin. You have two options the Dublin to Dundalk bus or the Dublin to Bettystown bus (this service accepts Leap card & is the cheapest fare!!!).

Dublin to Dundalk service: You can then get off just opposite The Thatch pub & cycles down towards town centre but take a left at the first set of traffic lights leading you onto Martley's Lane, cycle to the end of this. Take a left once again onto Rathmullen Road follow this road & you will get to the Sea-Lock where you should be greeted by some traffic cones confirming that a workparty is in progress.

Dublin to Bettystown service: The last stop on the route will be GrangeRath (Park drive) cycle down to the roundabout & take the 2nd exit. Cycle in the Dublin Rd into the town. Cycle onto James St., John St. & Rathmullen Road continue to follow this road until you reach the Sea-Lock. Workparty will be once again confirmed when you see the traffic cones on the road laided out by one of our hard working volunteers.
