Our free boat trips afternoon was a great success in everyway expect that it rain over the course of the afternoon (like last year) but also into the evening. It is estimated that 50 people showed up on the day!! Going off the response we had to it on Facebook it looked like we could have drawn a big crowd, 84 expressions of interest!! A simple assumption that if 4 people were in each car that would have meant 100's of people would have shown up.

These days weren't lost as we carried out a litter pick on the Oldbridge section of the Navigation. A total of 13 traffic cones, the shell of a washing machine, vacuum cleaner along with general rubbish was retrieved during these collections. Workday Notice 11th July 2015

A workday will be held this Saturday 11th July 2015 09:30 at Lower Newgrange (Staleen, Donore, Co. Meath)*.

Worked planned for the day will be continuation of pointing of the stone wall bank on the Lower Newgrange section, weather dependent. Due to the poor expected weather on the day and only a few volunteers who reported for duty, it was decided to carry out a litter pick on the Oldbridge section of the Navigation.

We started to collect litter on the water surface. Since water levels were so low and clear it allowed for the inspection along the bottom of a part of this section of the waterway. We found a collection of traffic cones which must have been dumped into along time ago. We managed to recover 12 of these cones. They were heavily limescaled and battered. We went back to reclaim more of these cones after lunch time but sadly the forecast rain started to come down. We abandoned our efforts, packed up our things and finished up our workday :-(

Our every en-genius P.R.O. came up with a great idea to aid raising some funds during the festival, that been to hold a raffle. He hasn't yet announced what amount of money was raised. We had a number of expressions of interest from people in volunteering and we glad to advise kayakers and other water users along with referring them onto people better in the know that us.
